Former FSU Football Star Attempts To Bring Coveted Alabama Transfer To Tallahassee

The former Seminole is doing his part to bring another top transfer to FSU.

Once Alabama safety Caleb Downs announced that he would be entering the transfer portal, the college football world was sent into a frenzy.

Even former FSU football star defensive back Greg Reid is attempting to bring the talented Hoschton, Georgia native to Tallahassee.

“FSU Football please go get Caleb [Downs]. Coach Norvell have him contact me,” said Reid.

How good is Downs? 247Sports has him listed not only as the #1 safety in the transfer portal but the #1 player nationally. However, it does seem like he’s trending to the University of Georgia.

But as Florida State fans know better than anyone, things can certainly change in the last hour.

FSU picked up some key pieces on defense in the portal already. This includes former Alabama cornerback Earl Little Jr., former Alabama linebacker Shawn Murphy, former Colorado defensive tackle Grady Kelly, former Miami defensive back Davonte Brown, former West Virginia defensive end Tomiwa Durojaiye, and former Oregon State defensive end Sione Lolohea.

Since former Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s retirement, more than 20 players have entered the portal.

Regardless of Downs’ decision, Greg Reid has expressed interest and perhaps some insight into whether he will work for Coach Norvell’s staff.

In a series of social media posts on Jan. 14, Reid responded to a post that requested he become a part of the coaching staff. He replied simply.

He also shared that he is currently enrolled at Florida State and finishing his degree.
