Green Bay Packers Must Target Son Of Former NFL Superstar

As the NFL offseason gets underway, the Green Bay Packers have quite a few things they could do. They have more financial flexibility than they have had in quite some time and a budding young superstar at quarterback in Jordan Love.

Everything they do will be in an attempt to fortify the team around Love. Adding a running back could be towards the top of their wish list.

They may have to look no further than a player that showcased his elite potential in the Shrine Game.

The East-West Shrine Game’s Offensive MVP boasts a remarkable NFL legacy spanning two decades. Frank Gore Jr., a Southern Miss standout, showcased his talent as a 1,000-yard rusher over the past two seasons, amassing an impressive total of 21 touchdowns during that time.

With Aaron Jones nearing the age of 30 by the conclusion of the 2024 season, it’s crucial for the Green Bay Packers to lay down a plan for succession. This urgency is exacerbated if A.J. Dillon decides to pursue opportunities in free agency.

While the Packers already have Patrick Taylor as an in-house option to fill Dillon’s shoes, it would be prudent for them to explore Frank Gore Jr. as a potential backup in the upcoming 2024 season. His track record and skills could prove invaluable in facilitating the transition away from Jones and ensuring the team’s running game remains potent.

During the 2023 season with Southern Miss, Gore ended up carrying the football 231 times for 1,131 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also caught 27 passes for 221 yards and another three scores.

If the Green Bay Packers want to add a cheap running back that can contribute right away, Gore could be an ideal fit. He’s certainly worth taking a look at in the NFL Draft.
