FSU Football’s Azareye’h Thomas Picked To Be Breakout Player In 2024

Brad Crawford of 247Sports predicts the rising junior to be on the verge of a breakout season.

247Sports’ Brad Crawford released a prospective list of who he thinks could be “breakout” players for the 2024 season. In that list, he includes Florida State’s Azareye’h Thomas at the cornerback position.

Crawford states that Thomas “rarely got the notoriety he deserved” and predicted that he will be “Florida State’s next big deal” in 2024.

“Given Florida State’s loaded roster during an unbeaten run to a conference championship, Azareye’h Thomas rarely got the notoriety he deserved playing in a talented secondary just behind a feared pass rush anchored by projected 2024 first-round pick Jared Verse and Patrick Payton,” said Crawford. “Thomas is expected [to] overtake Renardo Green’s role at the outside corner spot after working at dime as a second-year player. Thomas offers a ton of athleticism and will be Florida State’s next big deal in the secondary.”

In his two seasons so far at FSU, Thomas has played in 15 games and recorded 43 total tackles. 29 of those tackles came this past season.

In 2023, he also claimed 4.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, 10 passes defended, and a fumble recovery.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound junior from Niceville, Florida was a four-recruit ranked 67th nationally by Rivals.

During his freshman year, he appeared in marquee games against Clemson and Florida and picked up his first interception against Miami in the Seminoles’ 45-3 victory.

Thomas and the ’Noles will open their season with an early trip across the pond as they face Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland in Week 0.
