Did FSU RB Trey Benson do enough to elevate his 2024 NFL Draft stock?

Did Florida State running back Trey Benson do enough to elevate his 2024 NFL Draft stock?

As most fans realize, Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell’s offensive scheme centers around the idea of establishing the running game. While quarterback Jordan Travis was important to the overall team, they had to be able to set up the run so it created easier passing opportunities.

Florida State’s offensive line struggled at times during the 2023 season when it came to blocking the run. There were several instances where offensive linemen were pushed back into the backfield by stronger defensive lines. As a result, Benson and the other playmakers had to make things happen.

As it became apparent throughout the season, there were instances where Benson was getting 1 or 2-yard carries before he broke loose for a 30+ yard gain. Norvell emphasized in many of the post-game press conferences that they had to tell Benson to continue to push even when the yards weren’t happening early on in the contests.

Benson had five carries of 30+ yards go for touchdowns in 2023. The Mississippi native is a homerun threat waiting to happen for a lucky NFL organization.
