Luke Littler rose to stardom during the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship back in December.

Luke Littler could break a stunning darts record this week just months into his professional career.

Back in December, the PDC World Darts Championship was rocked by the emergence of Littler, who went all the way to the final before losing to world number one Luke Humphries at the Alexandra Palace, London.

Since then, the teenager from Warrington has risen to stardom, becoming one of the biggest talking points in the darting world.

Littler has also since won the Bahrain Masters and a Players Championship tournament.

On Sunday, the 17-year-old won his first European Tour title after clinching the Belgian Darts Open.

During his run to victory, Littler managed to hit a nine-darter, which was his third of the season.

Just months into his professional career, the teenage sensation is edging closer to greatness.

Currently, the record for the most nine darters in one season is held by Welshman Gerwyn Price, who managed four back in 2022 including two on the same night.

Littler will have the chance to match Price’s record or even break it this week as the Premier League Darts return on Thursday at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

After winning in Belgium, Littler said: “I’m just glad to get over the line. lost the two legs after I hit the nine so I’m relieved to get the win

“It’s always good to be involved in a good game; me and Rob have battles and we bring the best out of each other.”

He added: “I’m really happy to hit a nine-darter, I prefer 144 to 141 to finish a nine because when the first treble 20 goes in I’m confident of following it with another.

“I know the spotlight is on me because I’ve done so well but I just play my darts and get on with it. I just do what I do.”

Rob Cross, who lost to Littler in the final said: “I missed a few chances but I can’t be bitter about them.

“Luke is special, he has such a bright future in front of him; the nine was amazing. I’ve loved playing in front of this crowd, I’ve really enjoyed my weekend here.”
