Multiple NFL insiders have confirmed that former Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs will be signing with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent.

Following an agreement with Jacobs, the Packers quickly parted ways with Aaron Jones, their first option at the running back position. Jones has been playing for Green Bay since joining the league in 2017, and during his tenure, he recorded 5,940 rushing yards, including 45 touchdowns. He also contributed 2,076 yards from 202 catches and scored 18 more times.

Meanwhile, the Raiders drafted Jacobs in the first round in 2019. During his tenure with the franchise, he gained 5,545 yards on 1,305 attempts, including 46 touchdowns. He also proved to be a valuable receiving option, completing 197 passes for an additional 1,448 yards. Jacobs was the league’s leading rusher two seasons ago, with 1,653 yards on the ground, and was a member of the All-League All-Star Team.

In addition to releasing Jones, the Packers also dismissed David Bakhtiari, a renowned veteran at the left tackle position, known as the “protector of the blind side.” The move surprised many Packers fans, as Bakhtiari was a key player in the team’s offensive line.

On the other hand, the Packers made a significant addition to their defense by signing Xavier McKinney, the Giants’ recent safety, to a four-year contract worth 68 million dollars. McKinney is expected to bring much-needed depth and experience to the Packers’ defense, which struggled at times last season.
