Larry Bird Allstate March Madness commercial

Allstate struck gold with its idea of a personified version of “mayhem” in its commercials. Dean Winters stars as the disheveled actor that constantly shows up and creates chaos, causing destruction everywhere.

A number of different promotions have been created with Winters and the concept of mayhem coming to life, giving the company its infamous slogan, “You can save money and be protected from mayhem — like me.”

In the latest Allstate commercial, Bird stars in the 30-second advertisement as himself, while Winters is representing a bird in the attic. The NBA legend tries to corral the bird, but he ends up doing more damage than good. He hits his head on the ceiling boards and ends up falling through the flooring.

The commercial ends with Bird’s legs dangling from the ceiling, showcasing the damage done by his enemy. Winters utters the famous line, “You can save money and be protected from mayhem like me” and chuckles as he heads down the stairs.

Allstate’s latest promotion gives fans a chuckle, and it’s also a play on the former Celtics star’s name. Hopefully, the madness created on the court in March is as much as the flying creature created in Bird’s house.
