So Wright, 54, has been well placed to observe Littler’s stunning rise.

For many teenagers, a sudden ascent to superstardom akin to Littler’s would be overwhelming.

But according to Wright, the 17-year-old has remained astonishingly calm.

Speaking to talkSPORT, “Snakebite” said of Littler: “He’s doing fantastic and he’s great for the sport.

“Like all the other guys and myself, we practice a lot in the back room.

“He just sits there on his phone, gets up and has about five minutes then walks on the stage and spanks everyone.”

Since his incredible run to the World Championship final, Littler has won the Bahrain Masters title, and tops the Premier League Darts table having won three nights.

Wright reckons that Littler is already one of the best players in the world, alongside Luke Humphries.
