INDIANA Fever head coach Christie Sides revealed that Caitlin Clark getting snubbed from the Olympic roster has motivated her.

 

Sides shared with the media what Clark thought about the roster reveal and how it will affect her play.

Sides said she was personally disappointed to see Clark didn’t make the roster.

 

“Yea a little disappointed of course, she’s my player,” Sides said.

 

“That’s the hardest team in the world to make, right? That’s a tough team, she’s young, she’s going to have so many opportunities in the future.”

 

Sides shared that she sat down with Clark to chat about missing the team USA roster and how it can motivate her in the future.

“We talked about it on the bus, she got the call on the bus,” Sides said.

 

“She texted me to let me know and I just tried to keep her spirits up.

 

“The thing she said was ‘Hey coach they woke up a monster,’ which I thought was awesome.”

 

Clark personally opened up about not being selected for the Olympic roster and said it was now a challenge to work hard and make the next one.

“Honestly, no disappointment,” she said.

 

“I think it just gives you something to work for.

“I think it’s just a little bit more motivation…You remember that and hopefully when four years comes back around, I can be there.”

 

Clark also shared that she is excited for the women who made the roster.

 

The 12 athletes on the reported Team USA list are A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, Alyssa Thomas, Napheesa Collier, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Sabrina Ionescu, Chelsea Gray, and Kahleah Copper.

 

The WNBA season will take around a month off from July 21 to August 14 to accommodate the Olympic games.

 

CAITLIN CLARK IS HEATING UP

Clark had a slightly slow start to begin her WNBA career, but she is getting hot and playing her game now.
