Tributes Pour In as PGA Tour Legend John Daly Passes Away

Golf fans around the world are mourning the loss of two-time major champion John Daly, who has died at the age of 58. Known for his powerful drives, colorful personality, and unapologetic approach to the game, Daly was one of the most beloved and polarizing figures in golf history.

Daly rose to fame in 1991 when he won the PGA Championship as a last-minute alternate, earning the nickname “Long John” for his incredible driving distance. He later secured a second major at the 1995 Open Championship. Beyond his on-course success, Daly was known for his rebellious spirit, often smoking cigarettes and drinking Diet Coke during tournaments.

Fellow golfers and fans have flooded social media with tributes. Tiger Woods called him a “true original,” while Phil Mickelson praised Daly’s “fearless” playing style. The PGA Tour released a statement honoring his impact on the sport, saying, “John brought excitement and authenticity to golf in a way few ever have.”

Daly’s legacy extends beyond his wins, as he remained a fan favorite through his charitable work and unfiltered honesty. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. He is survived by his children and longtime partner.
