Chisnall wins eighth European Tour title in Belgium

England’s Dave Chisnall secured his second European Tour title of 2024 with victory in the inaugural Flanders Darts Trophy.

The 43-year-old, affectionately known as ‘Chizzy’, defeated German Ricardo Pietreczko 8-6 in the final in Antwerp to collect the £30,000 first prize.

World number seven Chisnall, who won the European Darts Open in June, beat Chris Dobey in the last four after a quarter-final victory over Peter Wright.

His final opponent, nicknamed Pikachu, stunned world champion Luke Humphries 7-4 to reach the final.

It is Chisnall’s eighth career European Tour title, putting him joint-third for most victories with Gerwyn Price, and only behind Michael van Gerwen and Wright.

Teenager Luke Littler, seeking a third European triumph of a stellar year, suffered a surprise defeat in the last 16.

The 17-year-old hit the highest average recorded in Belgium of 111.13 when defeating Jermaine Wattimena in the second round on Saturday, but succumbed 6-2 to Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode a day later.
