Greg Norman would reportedly be replaced by Scott O’Neil, a sports and entertainment executive who most recently served as CEO of Merlin Entertainments, a company that manages theme parks around the world.
Rumors that this change might happen began last October when Sports Business Journal reported that Norman might be changing his position within the LIV Golf system.
At the time, Norman said in an interview with Sports Illustrated that his contract runs through August 2025.
“My contract is through August of 2025. My commitment to LIV has been unquestioned and my commitment into the future is also unquestioned. Time will tell. Will there be a change in my role? My position and my role is to deliver 2025 and get our schedule done and all the things we need to do,” Greg Normad had said.

LIV Golf led by Greg Norman
Greg Norman has been at the helm of LIV Golf from day one to the present day in all aspects of its organization and operation. He has overseen the circuit’s first three seasons, two of which have been full calendars (2023 and 2024).
The latter two included 14 tournaments played in nine countries on four continents. From one year to the next, the field grew from 12 teams and 48 players to 13 teams and 54 players.
To date, LIV Golf players have won two of the eight major championships played (Brooks Koepka, 2023 PGA Championship, and Bryson DeChambeau, 2024 US Open). LIV players have also made inroads on the Asian Tour and DP World Tour with numerous victories.
Norman has also led the way in recruiting new players to the league. The initial group included superstars such as Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and the aforementioned Koepka and DeChambeau. The ulterior big signing was Jon Rahm in December 2023.
Another highlight of Greg Norman’s tenure at the helm of LIV Golf is the signing of Anthony Kim, a fan favorite who had been out of competitive golf for 12 years. Kim received a wild card to play 11 tournaments in the 2024 season after retiring early due to injury in 2012.
LIV Golf has already announced 10 of the 14 events on its 2025 calendar. So far, the league will reach a new country (Koera) and will also be played in new locations, such as Indianapolis in the United States
