Hudson Swafford opened up about his frustrations after struggling to return to the PGA Tour. The American golfer was one of the early players to join LIV Golf when the breakaway series began its inaugural season in 2022.
However, due to an injury, Swafford missed the 2023 season but returned to the Saudi-backed league in 2024 as a wildcard entry, alongside former PGA Tour star Anthony Kim. Upon his return, he struggled with his game, finishing 55th in the season standings and facing challenges in securing a spot for the 2025 season.
Moreover, as Swafford played on the breakaway series, he has been banned from playing on the PGA Tour and must serve a one-year suspension from his last Saudi Circuit event before being eligible to return to the American circuit.
In an interview with Golf Channel, published on December 2, 2024, Swafford revealed that he had attempted to return to the PGA Tour but failed to secure a path back to the circuit. He said:
Notably, Swafford also competed in the LIV Golf Promotions event, taking place this week at Riyadh Golf Club. However, after scoring six over par on Friday, December 13, he failed to qualify for the weekend rounds. This setback has further dimmed his hopes of securing a spot on the LIV Golf roster for the 2025 season.
