Three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes asking the referee for a favor (as overheard on a broadcast mic) during Week 10 against the Denver Broncos has taken the X (formerly Twitter) by storm.
As Mahomes’ two-yard scramble was tackled by Broncos safety Brandon Jones, which was ultimately called back due to a penalty, the two-time MVP got caught on a hot mic seemingly asking the official for some help.
“Hey, ref, let me know when a defender’s closing in on me next time.”
Although Mahomes likely meant it playfully, it quickly turned things chaotic on social media.
More fans started swarming in with their opinions about the NFL rigging games in favor of the Chiefs–something that has come up time and again.
“NFL never beating the rigged allegations,” one fan commented.
Another fan wrote, “NFL is really starting to suck.” To which a fan replied saying, “Starting? It’s been in decline for the last few years.”
A third fan felt, “NFL more scripted than Hollywood.”
Adding to the drama during the Chiefs vs Broncos game, Kansas City’s offensive line was penalized for incorrectly lining up on the same play. That said, another big news is that Taylor Swift met the referee ahead of the Chiefs vs Broncos game.
As reported by ML Football on X via KSNT News’ Landon Reinhardt, Chiefs TE, Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift jumped on a a FaceTime with NFL referee, Sarah Thomas ahead of the contest. Thomas was officiating Sunday’s game.
Since the news coincided with Mahomes’ request to referee for an on-field “heads-up” during a play, NFL fans went bonkers once again!
Coming to the final score, the Chiefs have pulled off a 16-14 win, continuing their winning streak. They sit at the top of the AFC West with a 9-0 record.
Next up, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 17.
