The winner of the Women’s open has been determined and it is Lydia Ko from new Zealand

Lydia Ko clinched her third major title, marking her first victory in eight years, as she emerged as the victor from a highly competitive field at the Women’s British Open. This triumph follows her recent gold medal win at the Olympic Games, making it a remarkable summer for the 27-year-old New Zealand golfer.

Securing a birdie with a left-to-right putt on the renowned 18th hole at St. Andrews’ Old Course, Ko finished her final with a score of 3-under 69. She then anxiously awaited the outcome, hoping to maintain her lead over top-ranked Nelly Korda, defending champion Lilia Vu, and two-time champion Jiyai Shin.

Throughout the gripping final round, which took place in challenging cold, windy, and wet conditions before ending in sunshine, these four golfers, all of whom have held the No. 1 ranking at some point in their careers, found themselves tied for the lead at various moments.

Ko had already completed her round and was situated near the 18th green, engaging in stretches while wearing ear muffs, when Vu attempted a20-foot birdie putt that would have forced a playoff. Unfortunately for Vu, her putt fell short, and she ultimately bogeyed the hole, finishing with a score of 73 and a total of 5-under par, alongside Korda, Shin, and Ruoning Yin.

This summer has been nothing short of extraordinary for Ko. Not only did she secure her place in the Hall of Fame by winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, but she has now added a major championship title at the historic home of golf to her list of achievements.

Ko’s previous major victory came in 2016 at the Chevron Championship. The year before that, as a remarkable 18-year-old talent, she claimed the Evian Championship

  1. Go, Lydia, you are an inspiration to so many women and young girl in New Zealand and around the world.
Sounds like sour grapes from Nelly Korda to go along with the expression on her face most of the time. She doesn’t look like she enjoys her golf, even being No 1 in the world.

  2. This article has nothing to do with Nelly Korda accusing Lydia Ko. Facebook has shit for headlines. Why do that shit?
