Tiger Woods is just 18 holes away from winning his first title alongside his son Charlie,

with Team Woods currently leading the way at the top of the leaderboard at the PNC Championship.

In the parent-child scramble tournament, Tiger and Charlie are tied in first place alongside Team Langer and Team Singh, after carding a superb 13-under-par 59 at Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Florida. The Woods duo went bogey-free and made 13 birdies on their way up the leaderboard.

This leaves them in a prime spot to become champions for the very first time on Sunday, with 18 holes left to play, but they do of course have company at the top.

Both Team Langer and Team Singh also went bogey-free, both making one eagle and 11 birdies in their opening round on Saturday. Unsurprisingly all eyes were on Tiger and Charlie on day one, and this is set to ramp up on Sunday with the chance of getting their hands on the title.

Team Woods is competing in the fifth-straight PNC Championship, and the chance to play alongside his son is clearly huge for Woods, who described the 36-hole tournament as his ‘fifth major’ at this summer’s Open Championship. There is of course still plenty of work to do if they are to get over the line on Sunday.

And this is something Tiger is more than aware of: “We’re right there,” he said post-round. “There’s a bunch of teams that are up there. We’re going to have to shoot another ground tomorrow. And you know, make a bunch of birdies and hopefully we can do that and get off to a good start, and then develop it into the back nine.”
