Trolls take on Phil Mickelson for his Prediction after Scottie Scheffler Wins the 2025 BMW Championship.

Phil Mickelson found himself in the crosshairs of social media trolls after Scottie Scheffler’s dominant victory at the 2025 BMW Championship—a result that directly contradicted Lefty’s earlier prediction.

Mickelson, known for his bold takes on golf’s rising stars, had previously suggested that Scheffler’s recent swing adjustments would “take time to pay off” and that younger players like Ludvig Åberg or Cameron Smith were better positioned for success this season. However, Scheffler silenced doubters with a commanding five-stroke win at Castle Pines, securing his fourth victory of the year and further solidifying his World No. 1 ranking.

Almost immediately after Scheffler hoisted the trophy, fans and critics alike flooded social media with memes and jabs at Mickelson’s expense.

“Phil really thought Scheffler’s ‘adjustments’ would hold him back? Dude just won by 5. #LeftyLogic,”** tweeted one fan.

Another user quipped, “Mickelson giving golf advice is like a weatherman predicting sunshine during a hurricane. #SchefflerProvedHimWrong.”

Even fellow pros couldn’t resist joining the fun. While not directly naming Mickelson, Justin Thomas posted a cryptic tweet: “Some guys just can’t help but doubt the best player in the world. Congrats, Scottie. #Unstoppable.”

This isn’t the first time Mickelson’s predictions have backfired. Last year, he downplayed Rory McIlroy’s chances at The Open, only for McIlroy to win by three strokes.

Scheffler, ever the diplomat, brushed off the drama in his post-win press conference. “Phil’s entitled to his opinion,” he said with a grin. “I just focus on playing my game. But hey, if people want to use me as a reason to troll him, that’s on them.”

As the PGA Tour heads into the FedEx Cup Playoffs, one thing is clear: Scheffler remains the man to beat—and Mickelson might want to think twice before doubting him again.

Do you agree with the trolls, or was Phil’s take justified? Sound off in the comments!
