Von Miller SUES Buffalo Bills for Alleged Wrongful Termination and Career Sabotage Following Controversial Release

Von Miller, the NFL’s active leader in sacks and a two-time Super Bowl champion, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the Buffalo Bills, alleging wrongful termination and career sabotage following his release in March 2025. The Bills’ decision to part ways with the 35-year-old linebacker was primarily a salary cap-saving move, freeing up $8.4 million in cap space, although it also resulted in $15.4 million in dead cap money for the team .

Miller’s tenure with the Bills was marred by injuries and off-field issues. After signing a six-year, $120 million contract in 2022, he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during his first season, which significantly impacted his performance in subsequent years. In the 2023 season, he failed to register a sack in 12 regular-season and two playoff games .

In addition to his on-field struggles, Miller faced a four-game suspension in 2024 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. The suspension stemmed from allegations of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend in 2023. Although Miller was arrested, no charges were filed, and he has maintained that the allegations were “100% false” .

Despite these challenges, Miller’s lawsuit claims that the Bills’ decision to release him was not solely based on performance or financial considerations but was instead an attempt to damage his reputation and hinder his future career prospects. The Bills have not publicly commented on the lawsuit.

As of now, Miller remains a free agent and has hinted at a potential return to the Denver Broncos, the team where he began his illustrious career . The outcome of his lawsuit against the Bills could have significant implications for both his future in the NFL and the team’s reputation.
