Luke Littler has revealed he’ll retire from darts when he no longer feels the desire to compete at the highest level – while also admitting he’s hopeful of breaking Phil Taylor’s record of 16 world titles.
The 18-year-old has become a household name over the past 12 months and, at the start of the year, won the World Darts Championship.
He was too strong for Michael van Gerwen in the final, having previously lost to Luke Humphries at the same stage in 2024.
Littler, speaking to the Daily Mail, has been asked about potentially beating Taylor’s record of 16 world titles.
And the darts star has admitted that’s something he’d like to do, while also revealing he’ll walk away from the sport if he doesn’t feel the same hunger or desire as now.
“Everyone would like to do that,” he said.
“It will take some doing. I have a better chance to win 16 or more on grounds of age being on my side. I want to do this as long as I enjoy it.
“You can’t step on stage or speak honestly to people if you’ve lost the love to do it. That’s when I would stop. I don’t know yet.”
Littler, despite his impressive achievements over the past year, remains modest and humble.
He continues to surround himself with the same friends he’s had for years, with his parents keen for him to stay grounded.
