UPPERBY Social Club is hosting a darts tournament to raise money for the family of a Carlisle mum who died following injuries she received in a house fire
Kayleigh Lennox, 27, passed away in hospital three days after fire engulfed a two-storey property at Cant Crescent in Carlisle. The mother and children were admitted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where she sadly died.
Bryan Duncan, owner of the social club, has organised the darts tournament, where he hopes a “large amount of money will be raised.”

“The goal is to raise as much as possible for these boys, community is everything and the Upperby Social Club is a very community orientated place, it always has been.
“Everybody that comes in, they all know each other and when something like this happens, most communities come together, it’s a thing that decent people do.”
The event is set to take place on Sunday, May 25, at 2pm. To enter into the tournament, it is £5, and there are several prizes to be won, donated from local businesses.
Bryan said: ”Local Currock businesses are providing prizes, from the five road ends down in Upperby we have prizes from the hairdressers, local butchers, beauty vouchers and all kinds of things.
“I haven’t come to grips with all the vouchers yet, we even have boxes and bottles of wine. The list of prizes is long.”
More than £17,000 has been raised to date in memory of Kayleigh through an online fund-raiser organised by Kaley Dixon.
‘Sadly and surrounded by her loving family, at Newcastle RVI after fighting on, Kayleigh has passed away leaving her two young beautiful boys, who she managed to save from a house fire on Monday, April 28, 2025,’ said Kaley.
All of the funds raised from the tournament will be donated to the active fundraiser, with the money going to Kayleigh’s mum, Julie Lennox – to help provide for the two boys, who are said to be in a stable condition, and get them whatever they need and help towards funeral costs.
Bryan said: “The tournament is sounding very popular, there is going to be quite a lot here.
