Benjamin senior Sam Woods rose into the cool Palm Beach County night to help “underdog” Benjamin girls soccer grab a district championship trophy on Wednesday night.
Woods, daughter of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, scored the game-winning goal for the Bucs in a 1-0 upset victory against King’s Academy, clinching the District 8-2A championship in the process.
The senior central defender scored a header on a corner kick delivered by Kallan Pasciuto just before the second half water break.
“She scored a really, really nice goal,” Benjamin head coach Hillary Carney said. “It was beautiful. I couldn’t have written it up any better for them.”
