The Buffalo Bills have signed a quarterback just four days before their matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the playoffs.
Interestingly enough, the newest member of the Bills actually played for the Ravens. On Wednesday, Buffalo added Anthony Brown to its practice squad. Prior to becoming an NFL player, he was quite productive at Oregon. In his final season of college football, Brown had 2,989 passing yards, 658 rushing yards and 27 total touchdowns. He then signed with the Ravens in 2022 as an undrafted free agent.
During the 2022 season, Brown appeared in two games for the Ravens. He completed 44.9 percent of his pass attempts for 302 yards with two interceptions.
Since playing for the Ravens in 2022, Brown has had brief stints with the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals. He also spent five days with the Bills last August.
It’s possible the Bills are signing Brown to pick his brain in regards to the Ravens. Besides, it’s not like he’ll receive any playing time at this stage in the year
However, the Ravens don’t have the same offensive system anymore. In 2023, they hired Todd Monken as their offensive coordinator. He has done wonders for Lamar Jackson and the passing game.
The Bills will go as far as Josh Allen takes them. So far, he’s been outstanding this season. During the opening round of the playoffs, he completed 20-of-26 pass attempts for 272 yards with two touchdowns. He also ran the ball eight times for 46 yards.
Allen is hoping to get the Bills back to the AFC Championship Game for the first time since the 2020 season.
If the Bills defeat the Ravens on Sunday, they’ll face either the Kansas City Chiefs or Houston Texans in the conference title game next weekend.
